I am appalled to find out through the newspaper and sudden notification that massive 23 and 10 storey buildings have been proposed on the site of the Ocean Village local centre.
I oppose the proposal because:
The consultation process was profoundly inadequate, offering no real opportunity for meaningful input.
The shift from a maximum six-storey limit indicated by Local Government after community engagement to a 23- and 10-storey development is shocking and indicates severe deficiencies in the consultation and planning process.
The proposed development would be grossly out of proportion with the existing neighbourhood context with no seemly transition. Changing from a 'local centre' zoning to such high-density high-rises is an enormous and unjustifiable leap. Local homeowners have no reason to expect this to occur.
The development will worsen local traffic issues, exacerbated by the area's limited public transport options and the increased need for waste removal and commercial vehicle access.
I am concerned the adverse effects of artificial light, noise, and other disturbances from both the development and its construction will impact the surrounding park and bushland.
I fail to see why such a development would be prioritised over resolving the housing crisis.

The image shows the height of the buildings to scale, looking from West Coast Highway up Hale Road. Is this right for City Beach?
Thanks for efforts to avoid this disastrous planning over-reach by Blackburne. I'm advised of the similar but futile experience of Applecross residents. I quote <All our protests for less apartment storeys in the Canning Bridge precinct went nowhere. They managed to add another 5 storeys for providing facilities. These spaces are still empty space 3 years after finished (sic) the building. A joke!!!>
