Consultation

I do not feel I have been consulted in a transparent fashion.

I had no real opportunity to contribute to the planning process. My input was limited to selecting from pre-defined options in a survey, and now I am faced with a fully formed proposal. The introduction of a super high-rise building has come as a complete shock to me.

The Town of Cambridge set a maximum height of six storeys. Now, the developer is proposing 23 and 10 storey buildings. This drastic change raises serious concerns about both consultation and the planning process.

Scale and nature of development

The scale of this development completely disregards the existing context of the surrounding neighbourhood. It is starkly disproportionate and out of context.

When purchasing property in this area, we had a reasonable expectation that high-rise buildings would not be permitted, as the site is zoned as a ‘local centre.’ Going from a local centre to a maximum-density high-rise represents an enormous and unjustified leap.

Many of the storeys of the proposed development would overlook adjacent properties in an incredibly invasive way. It would absolutely loom over the surrounding area.

Traffic

The area has limited public transport options, making it inevitable that the proposed development will significantly increase local traffic. The need for waste removal and access by commercial vehicles will only exacerbate the situation.

I am very concerned about the impact this development will have on local traffic, which is already an issue in our area. I am also concerned about safety issues, particularly on Hale Rd.

Noise

As a nearby resident, I am seriously concerned about the additional noise that this development will bring to our community long-term, which will disrupt the quiet and peaceful environment we have come to expect.

Environmental impact

I am concerned about how artificial light, noise, and other effects of high-rise buildings and their construction will impact the surrounding park and bushland.
